russell's instructions for his funeral .
i desire to be buried in the plot of ground owned by our society, in the rosemont united cemetery, and all the details of arrangements respecting the funeral service i leave in the care of my sister, mrs. m. m. land, and her daughters, alice and may, or such of them as may survive me, with the assistance and advice and cooperation of the brethren, as they may request the same.
instead of an ordinary funeral discourse, i request that they arrange to have a number of the brethren, accustomed to public speaking, make a few remarks each, that the service be very simple and inexpensive and that it be conducted in the bible house chapel or any other place that may be considered equally appropriate or more so.

you know, i'm somewhat shocked that there's no kind of singles area of the site.
how great would it be (for me, at least) to find a great ex-witness lady?
i guess no one is too worried about it though.
You are so right. I find most women that don't know much about the Jdubs can not relate to you. I find that the way I was brought up that we were never taught any social skills so I am ver awkward in social settings. I am in a position now that Jdubs can't relate to me and non Judubs can't relate to me either.

i took this quote from another thread, because i thought it had universal appeal here:.

try putting some confidense in yourself.
Sure most Jdubs have very low self esteem. They don't know what to do if they didn't have the religion top lean on. Haven't you ever heard a Jdub say "where would I go"?? They are scared s***less of doing anything that they would have to make there own decisions. I know because I was just like that about 20 years ago. I learned the hard way away from the borg to achieve a higher self esteem. An interesting quote I read from a book.
"A careful look at Jesus Christ will reveal an extremely self-actualized person, an individual who preached self-reliance, and was not afraid to incur disapproval. Yet many of his followers have twisted his teachings into a catechism of fear and self hate."
"The leaders of the church misconstrued the teachings of the Great
Religious leaders and attempted to teach conformity by using fear of
retribution as a weapon. Thus a man behaves morally not because he
believes it to be appropriate for him, but because God wants him to
behave that way. If in doubt, consult the commandments rather than
yourself and what you believe. Behave because someone has told you to
and because you will be punished if you don't, not because you know
it to be right behavior for you. Organized religion appeals to your
approval-seeking needs. It may produce the same behavior that you
would have chosen, but you haven't chosen it freely."

the may 15 issue of the watchtower contains a discussion of the question: would it be advisable for a true christian to attend a funeral or a wedding in a church?.
the tone of the wts view is set in the very first line our taking part in any form of false religion is displeasing to jehovah and must be avoided.
nonetheless the last line of the article states whatever the situation, the christian should make sure that the decision will not interfere with his preserving a good conscience before god and men.. so apparently it's a personal decision for the jw as to whether he/she will attend a funeral in a church or not.
Typical cult mind control tactics. "You are free to do what you want but Jehovah won't like it". So they, the WT is not telling you what to do but Jehovah may be displeased. Glad I am out.

as many of you may recall i posted the following update about two weeks ago:.
"i am happy to discontinue the dateline update due to the closeness of the program.
dateline, is a good organization and doing their best to be fair and remain neutral when it comes to reporting the story.
Just sent this to America's Most Wanted's John Walsh.
Hi John,
I saw you on Larry King last night. I just wanted to say how I appreciate what you are doing. I just get so angry at the injustices to us the hard working, tax paying public. It seems sometimes that there is no justice. So keep up the good work.
You mentioned in your interview with Larry King about the problems with the Catholic Church and the Pedophile issue. I just want to let you know the Catholic Church is not the only religion that has this problem. My understanding is that the news show, Dateline is preparing something similar about the Jehovah's Witnesses. It has been a similar problem. The JW's have covered up child abuse and allowed the perpetrators to continue on in the local congregations without other JW parents being aware that their children being in danger. If you are interested there is a good site: http://www.silentlambs.org/
Once again, Thank you for all you have done to keep our countries safe. Keep up the good work.

Hi,
I posted this earlier and sent Montel your web link. I hoping that maybe interest from other sources would help.
I just watch the Montel Williams show on "THE CATHOLIC CHURCH: SCANDAL AND SIN". "It’s a scandal shrouded in secrecy that many believe the Roman Catholic Church has enabled…meet alleged victims of sexual abuse and hear the church’s response." I just sent him a response in regards to the fact that the Catholic Church is not the only religion that has covered sexual abuse in its ranks. I also sent him the link to Silent Lambs. Anyone else interested in sending him an email his web site is:

What I have learned myself is that a person does not require any man made organization no appreciate spiritual things. In other words, to be spiritual does not require one to follow any religion. My relationship is between God and myself. I don't need anyone or anything to develop that personal spiritual relationship. Maybe most of us here on this site repeats themselves but we are all very bitter and disillusioned with a religion or bunch of men that put themselves up on a pedestal but lied to us. I cannot speak for events that happened 90 years ago but I am old enough to recall the 1975 fiasco. How the society hyped the whole thing and then didn't even have guts to admit it but blame it on the membership that looked up to the GB for guidance. How many times do we have to be fooled? I am not trying to change your thinking. You have a right to think the way you want and I respect that. I enjoy discussing issues but I don't take it personally and I don't try to change others to my way of thinking. I have my opinion like everyone else has here and would like to be respected for it.

just how do the 144,000 co-rule the earthly organization with christ?
i started thinking about this subject again after seeing the post on the watchtower as a false prophet.
do any of you remember how this was explained in the old days (i've been out so long i don't know if this is now "old light")?
My grandfather had the heavenly hope and was supposed to be one of the 144,000. I understand that the remnant being "spirit directed" could contribute to the WT. I was told that he did contribute some minor point in doctrinal understanding. More in likely the GB has had new light on this and its being changed anyway. I agree that probably 99% of the "spiritual food" is coming from a small minority of the remnant class.
